![]() Novelty consumable - Inflicts the Sparkle Slime debuff for 30 seconds. The latter shoots several crystals, while the former will fly directly towards the player. She summons various NPCs that can quickly overwhelm the player like Heavenly Slimes, Bouncy Slimes, and Crystal Slimes. She will teleport to the player if she cannot see or reach them and jumps around sporadically. ![]() The Queen Slime fight is initially very similar to the King Slime. Her two phases are detailed below, so players are aware of her attack style. The Queen Slime can easily overwhelm an under-prepared player with her rapid movement speeds and unpredictability. Her second form is triggered once she reaches half of her health pool. Queen Slime has two phases that players need to consider. Garden Gnomes can also reduce damage taken and increase damage dealt, so they are worth having. ![]() As with all boss fights, players should adorn their arena with copious amounts of Campfires and Heart Lanterns for optimal passive health regeneration. Platforms also allow for easier dodging and avoiding attacks. The best way around this is to build a sky arena constructed entirely out of platforms, so her attacks will fall straight through. In both phases, Queen Slime shoots out bouncing projectiles that can prove deadly if they ricochet from physical blocks. The Firecracker Whip has a high DPS if the minion and player attack the same target. However, players should bear in mind that it can be tedious to obtain this weapon from the Dreadnautilus as it is a formidable foe in its own right. Summoner - The Sanguine Staff is the best option for Summoners during this fight, allowing players to consistently barrage the Queen Slime with attacks. The Adamantite Repeater is also a strong early-Hardmode weapon that is easy to make and another viable option. It should be paired with Holy Arrows and the Magic Quiver accessory. Its multiple attacks can wipe out the smaller Slimes while damaging the Queen Slime herself. The Daedalus Stormbow is an excellent weapon for a double whammy. Ranged - Ranged is one of the better melee styles against Queen Slime, as players can try and keep their distance. The Drippler Crippler, dropped from Blood Eels, is an excellent flail for this fight and is a double threat with high damage output and range. These two weapons have a high damage output and range, so melee users don't need to put themselves at risk. Melee - The Amarok or Yelets (if a mechanical boss has been killed) are two strong Yoyo contenders. However, it does have a high mana cost, so players will need plenty of Mana potions if they use this weapon. The Meteor Staff is a great early Hardmode weapon that can be devastating and is easy to craft. The Golden Shower spell tome dishes out plenty of damage and can lower the defense of any enemy it attacks. Magic - Magic users are in luck, with more viable options than any other classes for this fight. The best Wings available at this early stage of Hardmode are the Fin or Fairy Wings, allowing for more mobility and airtime to dodge attacks. Like most Hardmode boss fights in Terraria, Wings are a necessary accessory to dodge the projectiles and other attacks the boss may throw at them. RELATED: Terraria: How To Get The Zenith Sword Queen Slime is immune to Poison and Confused debuffs, so there is no point in using any weapons that inflict these. Titanium armor is also a solid choice due to its base stats and Titanium Barrier passive. Its strength lies with its Rapid Healing set bonus as it increases health regeneration, which will only be increased by Campfires and Heart Lanterns. Palladium armor is recommended, despite its lower overall stats bonuses.

We are already, as a people, so very arrogant.Sandcastle is a French-language Swiss sci-fi mystery graphic novel written by Pierre Oscar Lévy and illustrated by Frederik Peeters. Even for those who believe they know about life and death and afterlife and afterdeath, the privilege to reconsider the limits we’re born with is a gift that should not be squandered or abdicated. These parables surround us, whether in reading Shelley's "Ozymandias" in junior high or in the kingdoms we build as children in the sand, but we are-as a species or as a culture-so prone to forgetfulness and distraction that reminders, even obvious ones, can be welcome. Sandcastle is one more opportunity to prompt our thoughts toward consideration of our mortality and if there can be any meaning in it. Peeters, whose art is full and lively, describes the book as a parable. The characters are rather typical, but that allows us to investigate the typicality of their conundrum. Lévy and Peeters offer a neat entry into their discussion of the human end, lubricating the conversation by its relevancy and immediacy. Sandcastle is thoroughly invested in the human dilemma-that bit of story that takes place in between plot points. Partway through, however, readers will begin to sense that the plot, the story, the mystery, and whatever climax awaits is probably beside the point. It’s an exhilarating ride and well worth the ticket paid. Lévy and Peeters grab hold of one’s attention deftly and don’t show any concern with offering relief until the book’s final curtain draws closed. The reader’s first pass is going to almost inevitably be wholly invested in the question of Holy Crap What Is Happening?! The book is written and drawn with judicious tension. Sandcastle, like most Twilight Zone episodes, is heavily plot driven. Sandcastle is no different, and by collapsing those decades and years and months and days and hours of potential meditation into the span of a day or less, authors Frederik Peeters and Pierre Oscar Lévy force the issue rather neatly. Those years and years of intermittent contemplation may bring us to peace or push us toward existential horror, and that’s what centuries of literature helps us explore. One of the saving graces of the human experience is that without the intervention of some terrible accident (injury or disease or murder), we all get at least six decades to gradually make sense of the whole tragic mess. The fact that we will all die pretty much sooner than we’d prefer motivates (even if only subconsciously) so much of our narrative displays-and of course our real-world actions as well. ![]() In fact, most stories can in some sense be read as an exploration of our perishable nature, of our inevitable expiration. Books about the mortality of the race are not rare. ![]() Bear in mind, however, that boosting brightness levels often comes at the expense of black-level response and darker tones, increases energy consumption and decreases lamp lifespan. Projectors are now increasing brightness levels in order to do a better job of covering the wider colour gamuts used in 4K HDR content, and produce more convincing HDR effects. Brightness: This is rated in ANSI lumens, with typical home cinema projectors hitting between 2,000 and 4,000 lumens.Laser projectors give you the best of both worlds, with high brightness levels, excellent contrast and LED-like lifespans. LED light-sources last the whole lifespan of the projector, but projectors that use them often can’t deliver the same brightness levels as projectors with traditional lamps. ![]() These have a limited lifespan and their brightness deteriorates over time, so need to be replaced. Lamp life: Most cheaper projectors rely on UHP or metal halide lamps. The downside is the projected image tends to suffer more from geometric distortion. If space is really tight, you might want to consider a short throw or ultra-short throw projector, which can create big images on your screen or wall from incredibly short distances – as little as 10cm for a 50in image in some cases. The cheaper the projector, the more limited these options will be. Optical zoom allows you to enlarge or reduce the screen without moving the projector, while lens shift lets you move it up, down, left and right without losing quality – or moving the projector physically. Here, you need to consider throw distance (how far you place the projector from the screen for a given screen size), optical zoom and lens shift capabilities, all of which will have an impact on projector placement. Do I need optical zoom and lens shift?Īfter resolution and technology, the most important consideration is your room and how you’re going to set up and connect the projector. Laser light source projectors – typically combined with a three-LCD image engine – deliver the best contrast and brightness but cost anywhere upwards of £2000 and often significantly more. If you want the very best quality, however, a laser light source projector is what you want. Some people are less sensitive to this than others, though, so if you haven’t experienced a DLP projector, make sure you get a demo before spending your money. As most display colours sequentially use a spinning, segmented colour wheel (there’s the odd exception to this rule), they suffer from what’s called the “rainbow effect”, where small areas of the image appear to splinter into small rainbows when you shift your gaze from one side of the screen to the other. ![]() Of these, DLP projectors are the most common, the most compact and tend to deliver the most bang per buck, while LCD projectors tend to be bulky and slightly more expensive.īest TV for gaming 2023: Top televisions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and every other consoleĭLP projectors do have a downside, though. Most modern home-theatre projectors are based on one of two technologies: DLP and LCD. What's the difference between DLP and LCD projectors? They’re not true 4K machines, relying on pixel shift upscaling to deliver an approximation of 4K resolutions, but you have to look very closely to tell the difference. “4K-enhanced” projectors such as the BenQ W2700 or Optoma UHD38 are the “cheapest” way to get your 4K thrills – for less than £1,500 – and they’re improving all the time. True 4K projectors are becoming more widespread but projector tech is lagging behind TVs and even the more affordable options come in at north of £4,000. Data projectors tend to be cheaper, but typically have resolutions of 800 x 600 or 1,024 x 768, which won’t display Blu-ray movie content at native resolution. If you’re looking to buy a projector for watching movies, make sure you’re buying a Full HD projector (with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080). However, there’s a whole world of technology inside these plain-looking boxes you need to be aware of before making your purchase.įirst, resolution.
